WARRI—SHELL Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, pipeline security workers, covering six flow stations in the Northern Swamp operation of the Anglo-Dutch oil company, staged a peaceful protest to Egwa 1 and 2 flow stations in Warri South-West, demanding salary increment and better working condition.

The workers, under the aegis of National Association of Surveillance Workers of Delta State, NASWDS, in the protest letter addressed to SPDC General Manager, said “unless your authority addresses our plight within seven days, we may have no other option than to stay out of work indefinitel.”

They  also want the company to pay them their January 2010 salary. They are asking  for salary increment from the paltry N15,000 monthly pay, which dates backs to over 15 years,  saying their service condition is the worst among oil companies operating in the area.

The protesting workers are from Odidi 1 and 2 ; Egwa 1 and 2; Batan and Jones Creek flow stations and had previously issued a 21-day; 14-days and now 7-days reminder notice to SPDC
