Ibadan — Presidential candidate of the National Action Council (NAC), Olapade Agoro, has cautioned northern leaders to be mindful of their utterances on national issues.
Agoro said this while reacting to recent comments by the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on the Niger Delta crisis and sectarian crisis that engulfed some northern states late last month.
He described as unfortunate exchange of words by the leadership of ACF with militants in Niger Delta region.
He added that the action reduces the A CF, a highly respected socio-political organisation, to the level of Boko Haram, Talibans and the warring militants in Niger Delta.
Agoro noted that the group is failing in its primary mandate of acting as an interactive machinery of sodrugsing the North with the South for the oneness and unity of the country.
He added that instead of engaging itself in such an act, ACF should try to proffer solutions to the mirage of problems facing the geo-political zones of the Northern part of Nigeria.
"Extractive industry potentialities should not be over played upon as basis of the strength of our unity and bounding together of the oneness of the country.
"We should all rather resolve to rise above the consideration of perishable commodity identity and build the strength of our country on solid base industrial output having capacity for export earning, mass agricultural pursuit, living within our means devoid of ostentations, re-brand to show that we are really a good people and exploit technology to know how to take the best advantage of the future of our children," Agoro said.
